Yadessa Emiru Aga, 1994 — 2026

A memorial card for Yadessa Emiru — a framed portrait of him smiling in a black cap and white polo, surrounded by white lilies and candlelight, above the dates July 7, 1994 – July 27, 2026 and the words “Forever in Our Hearts.”

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

His story

A life, in color

Born in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, in 1994, the youngest of three, and raised in a home and a church that shaped everything that came after. What follows is the shape of a life lived with extraordinary diligence, a deep and steady faith, and a great deal of love for the people in it.

  1. 1994

    Born in Bishoftu, Ethiopia

The third and youngest child of Emiru Aga and Kebebush Haimanot, born in Bishoftu (Debre Zeit), Ethiopia, in 1994. He brought joy, vitality and light into that home from the very beginning.

  2. Bishoftu (Debre Zeit)

    Raised in the church

He grew up in the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus congregation in Debre Zeit. It was there he learned the Word of God and began a lifelong relationship with Christ — the faith that shaped his character, his decisions, and the way he treated people for the rest of his life.

  3. School years

    Guardian Angel, Ebenezer, Bishoftu Prep

Guardian Angel School for elementary, Ebenezer School for high school, then Bishoftu Preparatory School. A naturally gifted student, and a hardworking one.

  4. 2012 — 2017

Electrical and computer engineering at Mekelle

Five years at Mekelle University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

  5. 2017 — 2021

From developer to Expert at INSA

Four years at the Information Network Security Agency, joining as an Application Software Developer and advancing to the Expert level. He carried two additional private remote software roles at the same time.

  6. 2021 — 2023

    A master's in Iowa

He moved to the United States for his Master of Science in Computer Science at Maharishi International University in Iowa.

  7. 2022 — 2026

    Amazon: building, and quietly leading

Two and a half years as a Software Development Engineer on contract, then two more as a full-time SDE I. The title said one thing; in practice he was directing and mentoring three or four engineers, well beyond what anyone had asked of him.

  8. 2026

    He finished the race

On July 27, 2026, the Lord called Yadessa home to his eternal rest. Having lived a life filled with purpose, extraordinary diligence, faith, and deep love for others, he faithfully finished his earthly race (2 Timothy 4:7). While he is dearly missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing that whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8).
